School Nutrition Association Annual National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia

It was a great few days in Atlanta, Georgia for the 2017 School Nutrition Association Annual National Conference with a ton of NC and SC K12 culinary professionals, managers, supervisors, operators, directors and administrators.

Our Chef, Chuck Asher, and Sales Rep., Laura Smith, attended the show, where they were able to see old friends and make plenty of new ones in one of their favorite foodservice sectors. We had several of our factory representatives at the show with booths so we decided to take advantage of that and run a couple of promotions. The biggest hit was our Business Card Treasure Hunt where people were asked to visit and spend time at each of our factory booths in return for an SGA gift package. We also gave away several Culinary Boot Camps. Thanks to everyone who participated in the promotions!

Booth Highlights:

METRO has many items suitable for School Foodservice! One of their star products this year is the MightyLite Pan Carrier which is great for K12 breakfast programs and off-campus catering.

Their understanding of the importance of food safety is shown through their Allergen Free Zone myCart and the MetroMax 4 shelving which has built-in Microban antimicrobial product protection.

Franke highlighted their new FoamMaster which creates a great user-friendly experience through it’s large touch screen and offers an endless amount of options in flavored milk and coffee specialties. These are ideal for K12 coffee programs with the goal of keeping kids and staff on campus for specialty coffee drinks. In addition, these new coffee programs are creating great first jobs for kids while they’re in school.

Taylor highlighted their scales and thermometers. With their vast variety of options, they have the right tool for every person in the k12 kitchen!

SC showcased their Grab and Go Display options for everything from salads and sandwiches to juice and milk in a K12 serving line. These new cases provide a a fresh approach of merchandising to students as well as provide extra revenue to the school from special sales.

San Jamar has school kitchens covered when it comes to organization. Their family of countertop modular organizers and condiment centers are great for cafeterias and making sure everything has its place. Theyre alto shining a light on food safety through it’s Saf-T line which promotes sanitation through safe ice handling with scoops and totes. They also have the Allergen Saf-T-Zone System which is a purple color kit designed to color code and alert kitchen staff to follow special food allergen prep procedures.

-Alto-Shaam targeted K12 breakfast programs by promoting utilization of the Cook and Hold and Combi oven. Their dry wells are the perfect waterless solution for holding hot food and the HSM display for holding hot items like one of the school lunch classics – pizza!

We are proud to now represent F.Dick cutlery! Their Rapid Steel action knife sharpeners were a huge hit with school directors due to the growing trend of preparing fresh fruit and veggie trays in the kitchen.

Check out all the fun!
